About the Artist
KatjaFred is an artist based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. She finished the University of the Arts, Utrecht, the Netherlands, in the year 2015 as an illustrator. Fred’s personal work is mostly based on philosophical theories and she loves to put her arts and talents into social, decolonial and environmental engaged topics.
She is currently Art Director for Jacobin Nederland, teacher at the High school of Arts Utrecht (HKU), runs a small drawing company for kids and works on commissions as a freelance illustrator.
About the Takeover
Het Huis van Betekenis is a vibrant illustration hub and creative sanctuary from Utrecht where established names and fresh, upcoming artists connect. This autumn and winter, they are joining forces with Katoenclub for an exclusive seasonal takeover.
Guided by the theme ‘Free Your Bird’, sixteen creators embraced pure analogue craftsmanship using pens, markers, and pencils. Challenged to channel their inner bird, they created a refreshing tribute to artistic freedom, authenticity, and self-expression. These shirts invite you to break away from conventions, embrace who you are, and spread your own wings.
